Suffered Physical or Sexual Abuse?
We will help you make peace with your past
Many of us in adulthood are still affected by painful events from our childhood. Feelings like shame, anger, emptiness, confusion or fear can permeate our adult relationships and cause symptoms like anxiety, depression and addiction. Frequently, we try to forget about or bury these awful experiences, but they can often resurface through triggering events no matter how old we get. Sometimes our families do not acknowledge the abuse making the pain more complicated.
Are you ready to resolve and heal childhood wounds and find greater peace and happiness in your life?
Our licensed therapists use many effective tools and techniques in a comfortable and safe environment. One of the most powerful is Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. EMDR is a procedure that rapidly helps individuals resolve painful or disturbing memories. It is a relatively new development in psychology, originally designed to help survivors of trauma. It is effective for memories and their associated bodily sensations that may be difficult to emotionally or verbally process. There are a number of phases in an EMDR treatment, but the focus is on the client thinking about a particular memory while moving his/her eyes in a side-to-side motion. This motion, called bilateral stimulation, appears to help facilitate communication between both hemispheres of the brain.
The goals of trauma and abuse therapy are to help you:
- Regain and strengthen your sense of self
- Relieve feelings of depression, anxiety, fear and shame
- Neutralize the upset from painful or disturbing memories
- Leave the past behind so you can focus on creating a happy and vibrant life in the present
