Do you have a child (3 or older) or adolescent who is experiencing anxiety, depression, social skills deficits, adjustment difficulties, low self-esteem, or behavior problems?
Are you an adult who is experiencing anxiety or depression, and would like to learn strategies for managing stress, reducing symptoms, and developing insight?
My approach to therapy involves understanding each client’s unique situation with sensitivity, while providing a non-judgmental and nurturing environment. I strive to empower my clients by helping them to identify and build upon their individual strengths and abilities. I believe that a therapeutic relationship is built upon empathy, mutual respect, and genuine encouragement. I also have a compassion for helping children and adolescents to overcome emotional and behavioral obstacles by using developmentally-sensitive, creative, and interactive methods.
I have specialized experience in treating a wide range of anxiety difficulties, such as those pertaining to generalized anxiety, separation anxiety, social anxiety, obsessive thoughts, compulsive behaviors, specific fears, and selective mutism. I also specialize in the treatment of mood problems (i.e., depression), trauma, behavior problems (i.e., ADHD, oppositional behavior), and disordered eating/body image concerns. Additionally, I enjoy working with individuals who are experiencing academic, social, familial, or adjustment difficulties, as well as those hoping to improve self-esteem or social skills.
My approach blends various evidenced-based treatment modalities to meet your specific needs, including cognitive-behavioral therapy, client-centered therapy, motivational interviewing, solution-focused techniques, and play therapy. I also focus on helping to enhance insight and self-awareness, while increasing overall feelings of self-confidence and acceptance.
I received my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at UNC Chapel Hill and my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from UNC Greensboro.
Insurance Information
Currently, I am accepting clients who are self-pay, but am in the process of getting credentialed with several insurance companies. For those clients wishing to use out-of-network benefits, many times direct reimbursement to you is possible. Please contact our administrative staff to find out exactly what your mental health coverage is. For your convenience, our staff will submit all of the insurance claims electronically.
